i never liked cadence’s design all that much, too much pink… i mean, i like pink!! but there is a lot of pink in mlp already and i find that with episodes where cadence is in ponyville (like one? like one episode? probably bc they saw this problem) she tends to blend into all the pinkness

the only times she really stands out is in the crystal empire and there is just nOT ENOUGH episodes that take place there 

so while playing around with what colours i would make her i came to the conclusion that i actually didn’t really like celestia’s colour palette either
i love princess luna’s design, it just says so much about her and her role in the kingdom and i wish celestia’s design reflected that too
so i ended up sort of flipping their palettes and then making celestia’s a lot warmer to really sell that sunny look, i also made her just a unicorn because i think it would be cooler to have the three princesses be a unicorn (celestia), a pegasus (luna) and an earth pony (cadence)
i think that not only will white will help cadence stand out with the princesses, but the blue and soft purple is gentle and soothing and i think that’s important for a princess of love

in my imaginary reboot i want to keep these three princesses the guardians of equestria, and i want to put cadence in there from the very beginning
they’re referred to as “princesses” but they don’t really make the rules, they just simply have talents that line up with rather large or vague concepts like

the sun, the moon and, love

(i like to imagine there are lots of ponies who have these talents (like star mapping or… tree planting) and ponies will travel to them for help- or they will travel around to spread their teachings)

it’s like 
celestia uses the magic in her horn to give her strength to lift the sun,
luna has wings so she may fly through your dreams and check on you, and
cadence was born with the biggest heart in all of equestria!!! 

now making her white and blue could pose a problem with the crystal empire, but that’s A-OK bc i would redesign the crystal kingdom anyway, i like to imagine it like underground and maybe kinda dingy? 

the mane 6 meet cadence and she’s so gentle and sweet and nice and they imagine she lives in this amazing crystal castle and then when they meet real crystal ponies they’re all basically like fantasy dwarves? who dig for gems and have crazy labyrinths, theyre basically a lil twist on twinkle eye ponies?
so cadence being white would actually make her stand out from her surroundings

i allllsssoooo … like the idea of making her a boy? i just want a lil spin on the idea of a ‘princess of love’ 
so cadence holds the title of princess, but is still a boy. he still looks the way he does and he’s still referred to as a boy in all senses but the title “princess” 
i really liked when the show did this for spike, making him princess spike! and that not being like a dumb joke because princess is literally the ruling title 
and i also think it would be beneficial to have more androgynous and (more) diverse boy characters on the show

i just wanna say that i like this show and i love it just the way it is!! it’s just fun to think about the characters with little tweaks
although with shining armour it’s not really much of a tweak and more of a complete makeover 

so this is my oc, Meteor Shower
he’s based off the Big Brother pony “thundercloud”
i never really understood the idea of twilight being “so close” to her brother when he’d literally never been mentioned before
and even more is like… their relationship is… just really embarrassing to watch ? idk

i have an older brother and i just cringe when i watch the canterlot wedding episode sometimes
(all the scenes with cadence and chrysalis are perfect tho) 

anyway so at first i thought, i gotta change his colours- i made him look more like twilight with the pinks and purples, i wanted them to actually look related- and also he looks very good next to my version of mi amore cadenza (you bet he still has the full name)

then i started thinking, how can i make twilight and shining armour meteor shower’s relationship more organic ? 
so after looking through the big brother ponies i had the idea of having him be like a meteorologist, to keep up with the “night” theme in their family 

meteor shower had an affinity for the sky and weather patterns and when twilight came along, the two of them would study together

i like to imagine they’re just these huge bookworms who just laid around together in libraries and would barely talk, just swapping books
and the whole reason he wasn’t mentioned until the end of season 2 is just because they’re both so socially inept they just barely stayed in touch 

then it also makes him and cadence getting together even cuter because meteor shower is just this big weather nerd with no social status and this princess just falls head over heels for him and fights a changeling queen for him

edit: oh and the episode where they get a baby is ALL ABOUT adoption

I did redesigns of the main 7 girls in Equestria Girls cause i got tired if looking at unrealistic skin colors and clothes that didn’t fit their personalities or looked cute (fluttershy and sunset shimmer were probably the only designs i really liked)

i really wanted to make some alternate rainbow power designs!!!

i guess something that really bothers me about the canon designs (among other things) is that they dont really seem to cohesively represent friendship, or teamwork, or rainbows even? it’s like they just slapped random coloured stripes on each one and overloaded them with hair their cutie marks/symbols. i don’t really understand what happened there. why did they make the design choices that they did?

i wanted to make designs that would bind them together more? SO, they all have a shiny magical rainbow stripe in their hair, and each pony’s cutie mark gains five sparkles around it (echoing twilight’s cutie mark in representing the five other friends/elements). their manes and tails would still do the whole magical flowing spiel and get a little larger, but they wouldn’t be…completely out of control…glances back at the season finale… that extra hair magic results in fetlocks instead.

everypony is accented with the colour of the element of harmony she represents! and their fetlocks are individualized to match their personal style. but i wanted them to gain more similarities than individualities, since they are joining forces to use the super powerful magic of friendship.
